Last year the 23-year-old Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel became the youngest World Champion and the second German after the famous Michael Schumacher to win the title.

With a total length of 5.5 km, it has a remarkable system of artificial lighting that is turned on as the sun sets and has vertical, controllable beams to reduce glare for the drivers. It also has a unique pit-lane exit in the form of a tunnel, in which the cars drive without a speed limit, while at the end of the back straight is a run-off area that goes underneath a grandstand.
